About This Item

Probably rebound; binding is robust and solid, signature stitching is a little open, but still tight; one rather inexpert repair, as shown in photographs. Spine is tanned, as is a narrow band at top of rear board. Some early pages are considerably age-darkened, later ones considerably less so.

Part of the Libraire des Archives nationales et de la Société de l'École de Chartres.

Gesta Consulum Andegavorum or the Chronicle of the Counts of Anjou is a text written in Latin from 1100 to 1140 by the Benedictine monk and chronicler Jean Rapicault, known as Jean de Marmoutier, of the abbey of Marmoutier, near Tours .

The Chronicle details the first dynasty of the Counts of Anjou since the succession of Charlemagne. Beginning with semi-mythical ancestors from the Gallo – Roman world, the account continues through the reigns of Charles the Bald, Fulk l to lll (Nerra) and includes the campaigns against the Normans and the Bretons, and Geoffroy Grisegonelle's successful defense against the marauding Danes.
