About This Item

New York: McClure, Phillips & CO, 1900. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/Fine. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. 8vo., 289(6 ads)pp. Beautiful, bright First Edition, First State of this classic bibliomystery bound in original dark green cloth with titles on front board and spine stamped in gilt. Square, tight and clean throughout save a small spot of off-setting on the front end-paper. The gilt is particularly fresh and bright. Very mild wear/rubbing to edges and tips. Heel gently bumped. Bookplate of noted collector "Blairhame" on the front paste-down. Comes with a custom-made cloth dust-wrapper and slipcase. A simply gorgeous and remarkably well-preserved collectable copy, about as nice as I've seen (Penzler "Bibliomysteries" p,62; Wright III 4647; Hubin, p. 174).
