Boston: Gardner A. Fuller, 1863. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good - (minus). 19.5 x 12.5 cm. Small octavo. 189pp. Bound in brown blindstamped boards. Previous owner's bookplate on front fixed endpaper, embossed stamp and stamp on front free endpaper. Rubbing to the corners of the boards and some chipping to the spine. Russell was an Irish foreign war correspondent to the London Times who won fame for his coverage of the Crimean War. This work details Russell's letters from his time in America from 1861- April 1862 at the start of the civil war. Russell gave accounts from the North and South. Uncommon work.
