From jacket: "The dramatic story of the struggle between Union and Confederate supports for control of the Southwest - the land that promised for the South a Western Confederacy, an outlet to the Pacific thorugh California, mineral-rich lands, military stores and the possibility of Indian aid. But the fortunes of war dictated otherwise: the people of the Western territories for the most part remained loyal to the Union, and the Confederate vision of empire failed to materialize." Ex-library with typical treatments, many blacked out. Jacket is covered with mylar. Tape used to hold on jacket has left tanned marks on endpapers.. Cloth. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
