About This Item
New York: Simon & Schuster, 1969. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. 6 1/2 x 9 1/2. This book is well preserved. No flaws to the book except slight even yellowing to all paper. The dust jacket has small strip of sun darkening at the top and two areas on the front where something was erased using an eraser that left the area duller than the other white areas (barely noticeable). Blue cloth with gilt lettering inside red block on cover and spine. From the jacket: "In six lovely weeks in the spring and summer of 1940 a single battle brought down in total military defeat one of the world's great powers -- its second largest empire, an old and highly civilized democracy which Thomas Jefferson said was "every man's second country." The world watched Hitler's defeat of the French army -- then believed to be one of the finest in the world -- with dismay and bewilderment".
