About This Item

New York , NY, U.S.A.: Knopf, 1971. This is the first printing with the original pictorial dust jacket designed by Larry Rivers, later replaced by a different design; this collection brings together for the first time since O'Hara's death in 1966 all of the poems published during his lifetime in individual volumes, anthologies, and periodicals, as well as five essays, and reflects his growth as an artist, from the experimental poems he began writing in the late 1940s to his last years; edited by his friend Donald Allen, this volume includes an introduction by John Ashbery, extensive notes on the poems and essays, and a chronology of O'Hara's life (white textured cloth with very slightly faded gilt lettering on the front & spine; white pictorial dust jacket with Larry Rivers collage has slight edgewear, one small closed edge tear; otherwise a bright, clean, tight copy; in stock & available for immediate shipment from a reliable independent bookstore). First Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. 7 1/4 " X 10 1/4".
