Printed wrappers (torn at spine). Sullivan exhibited two etchings (items 1098 and 1099) and his annotations on the front wrapper refer to labels for three works, only one of which ("The Way of the Cross") is included in the exhibition catalogue. Edmund Joseph Sullivan (1869 - 1933) was a prolific painter, watercolorist, draughtsman, lithographer, engraver, art critic and teacher. His early association with THE DAILY GRAPHIC launched his fame and established him "as one of the foremost illustrators of his time, although eclipsed by Rackham and Dulac. He was a superb draughtsman, especially in chalks and had a strong and inventive imagination" - House, p. 470. Among the authors whose works he illustrated are Hughes, Walton, Carlyle (particularly SARTOR RESARTUS), Wells, Tennyson, White, Stevenson (notably DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE), Goldsmith, et al. "Sullivan's career as an illustrator was one of the most substantial and distinguished in the annals of English art" - Ray. Ray, THE ILLUSTRATOR AND THE BOOK IN ENGLAND FROM 1790 TO 1914, pp. 186-193.

London: Etchells & Macdonald, 1926.. Quarto. Cream linen spine and orange cloth over boards, stamped in gilt. Faint dust soiling to spine, trace of normal offsetting to endsheet gutters, otherwise a fine copy in lightly worn slipcase. First edition. Introduction and captions to the illustrations by Bernard Windeler. Illustrated with twenty-three original copper engravings by Wadsworth, printed from the plates, both full-page and vignette, and some delicately handcolored. One of four hundred and fifty copies. Wadsworth was, of course, one of the original signators to the Vorticist manifesto and regrettably that tradition shows through only occasionally and briefly in these draftsman-like renderings. Of particular interest to this cataloguer is the probability that the author of the captions is the same B.C. Windeler whose ELIMUS, with illustrations by Dorothy Shakespear, was published in Pound's INQUEST series three years earlier.

She collected many rare and exotic plants at her glasshouses in Kings Weston, Nyn Park and Dudley Grove.Mrs. Henrietta Maria Moriarty (1781-1842), widow of Col. Description:
This is a very lovely small book of poetry by Dante Gabriel Rossetti with illustrations by Paul Woodroffe. It was published by David McKay, Philadelphia, and dates to circa 1916. This appears to be a special binding, more luxurious than the softcover binding that McKay published, because this one has covers of thick rose-colored suede leather with the title and author impressed deeply into the suede on the front cover and spine. The front and back have double-page illustrations by Paul Woodroffe, as shown, and the title page has a lovely design as well as a facing illustration; there are 3 other illustrations among the 27 pages. The illustrations are in the Arts & Crafts or Art Nouveau style. The page edges are gilt, as shown, and there is a pink ribbon bookmark sewn in. This is the only copy with this binding that I have found. Please use the zoom function to see the great details. This little volume has survived well for 100 years. The interiors are in good, clean condition; the only condition…
