London: William Thynne, 1542. A collection of ten leaves ( A2 and A3 from Preface, Folios 181, 236, 373, 374, 376, 380, 381 ) from The Workes of Geoffrey Chaucer. William Thynne originally published a complete edition of Chaucer's works in 1532, thus the second collected edition of Chaucer's works is essentially a reprint of the 1532 edition, and was published in 1542 by John Reynes or W. Poole was one the most notable of mid-twentieth century book collectors of rare manuscripts dating from the third to the sixteenth century. Very Good, a few leaves with assorted wormholes, some marginal staining and some early and informed marginal notations. A unique and RARE collection given the number of leaves. . Very Good. 8 3/4" x 12 1/2".
