Washington, D.C.: U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey.. 33rd. Edition.. December 29, 1958. Revised to July 6, 1959.. Color nautical chart, 24 1/2 x 41 inches on sheet 26 3/4 x 43 1/4inches. Light creasing from rolling, overall very good condition. A small sheet marked Correction August 22, 1959 is attached with two staples at upper left corner (two ends of the sheet are creased); there is an addition paper attached at lower centre marked May 1959 (these both as issued). A striking nautical chart of the lower Columbia River as it empties onto the Pacific Ocean, this chart pre-dating the opening of the Astoria-Megler Bridge in 1966. As is typical with the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey maps there is great detail of the waterway and the immediately surrounding area; in this case that includes the grid outline of the town of Astoria. The attached correction relates to the area around Sand Island; the May 1959 correction reports "uncharted submerged obstructions...in the Skipanon Channel." .
