First Edition. fair to good, fair to good. 374, illus., appendices, DJ somewhat soiled: small tears/chips, some edge soiling, heavy ink crossout inside front flyleaf. This copy may be ex-private library; there is a large rough spot inside the front flyleaf, where it appears a library pocket may have been removed, and there is also a rough spot on the DJ spine, where it appears a library call number sticker has been removed. As a young man, the author was sent to the Soviet Union with his parents by the Ford Motor Company to set up an auto plant. He was eventually thrown into Soviet prisons and could not return to America until 45 years later.
