New York: Fairplay Publishers, 1949. Paperback. 191p., wraps, spine lightly creased else very good condition, errata slip tipped in, first wraps printing. Inscribed "To Hans [Freistadt] Who has been thoroughly domesticated, house-broken, down-trodden and be-devilled and still remains a sweet natured bastard. From Junius [Scales], 25 Dec 1949" Freistadt, a graduate student in physics at the University of North Carolina, was also an active and open member of the Communist Party. He was red-baited in 1949 for receiving a grant from the Atomic Energy Commission for $1,600 to support his studies - which caused UNC to institute a loyalty oath. Julius Scales was head of the North Carolina CP.
