First Edition. 4to (approx. 19 x 24cm). pp. vi, [7]-728; copper-engraved portrait (of the author) frontispiece plate, 29 further copper engraved plates; title page printed in black and red; engraved head and tail-pieces. Contemporary or a little later full brown calf binding with five raised bands to the spine, good with some general wear and rubbing, leather chipped to head/tail of the spine and corners, leather cracked to joints but boards remain firmly attached by cords; title label chipped with loss. Contents good and tight, appears complete, paper a little toned, some pages a little marked, small Japanese tissue repairs to the title page and frontispiece, plate opposite page 527, with a short edge-tear, just touching image, contemporary signature of Dorothy Anne Page to the front paste-down and a little manuscript geneological information of presumably the same to the rear free end paper, rear blank missing? A good tight copy. Scarce..
