Scarce edition of a work originally published in 1696, this version containing "not only all that has been hitherto offered on this Subject in various Publications, but a Variety of new matter, particularly the Forms of all such Writs as are now used and brought for prosecuting Suits in the different Courts subordinate to the Sheriffs . . . and apt Instructions to young clerks and practitioners for suing out and executing such Process with Safety and Effect" (p. [iii]).
The detailed descriptions of => the coroner's proceedings and "inquisitions" in case of all sorts of specified deaths are among the volume's most striking, although its notes on the specifics of sheriffs' duties are more extended and additionally absorbing.
