About This Item
Victoria, TX: Chax Press, 2015. First printing. 335 pp., large square 8vo. Perfect-bound in illustrated wrappers. Edited by Anne Tardos and Michael O'Driscoll, with preface, introduction, and notes. New.
The long-awaited collection of all sixty of the poet's "Light Poems," a form that he devised in the early 1960s and returned to intermittently for more than twenty-five years. Each of the "intensely biographical" poems is dedicated to a close friend or colleague, and all feature Mac Low's unique blend of concreteness and contingency. A third of the poems are previously unpublished; another third had only ephemeral or periodical publication prior to this collection.
