Contemporary cloth; expertly rebacked preserving spine, new endpapers. One plate loose in text. Fifth edition with additions. With faults an attractive copy of a standard book, well-illustrated with hand tinted color lithographic plates by Alfred Ducôte. Tyman writes that Ducôte was one of the leading practitioners of tinted lithographic process in London during between 1830 and 1840. The National Portrait Gallery has over 400 examples of his work.
