Attractive leatherbound edition of author's novel in which he imagines how the leader of a revolt of slaves in Virginia in 1831 would tell his own story. The novel was originally published in 1967 and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1968. --- In rich full morocco-style dark brown leather covers with gilt ornamentation on front, back and spine; three raised bands on spine. All edges gilt. Interior published on rich papers and with vivid red silk moire endpapers and matching satin ribbon bookmark sewn in. --- Illustrations by Kenneth Francis Dewey. With a small whitish spot on the back cover, else a bright, crisp, clean, unmarked copy; issued as part of Franklin's Pulitzer Prize-winners series. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 441 pages .
