About This Item

New York , NY, U.S.A.: Ticknor & Fields, 1990. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Signed by Author. Signed by author on title page; Lukacs describes this book as not a history of his life, but a history of some of his thoughts and beliefs, one of which is the existence of sin, a realistic perception based not only on religious revelation but through the evidence of historical experience, that is, self-knowledge; another is the immutable essence of human nature, which means that we are capable of improving human conditions, but not human nature; both of these beliefs lead Lukacs to describe himself as an original sinner with reactionary ideas (red cloth with gold lettering and aqua paper-covered boards, very slight edgewear; dust jacket has slight edgewear; otherwise a bright, clean, tight copy)
