Paris: Payot, 1952. Paper Wrappers. GVG. 244 pp, + 12 pp publisher's advertisement. Map of the South Pole. Text is in French. Henry was Scientific Director of the Washington Star, and a member of the Byrd expedition of 1946-47 to Antarctica. Signed by Henry on ffep to Newbold Noyes, editor of the Washington Evening Star. Noyes joined the Star as a reporter, then during World War II became an ambulance driver in the American Field Service. He rejoined the paper as a foreign correspondent, reporting on American troop activity in Italy and the Allied advance through southern France and then into Germany. The Star was a liberal Republican newspaper rival to the Washington Post. Paper toning, chipped spine edges; many pages uncut. With 8 page publisher's catalog laid in.
