Ottawa, Canada: C.H. Parmelee, Printer to the King's Most Excellent Majesty, 1912. Maroon, pebbled cloth-covered boards with gilt titling to slightly sunned spine. Slight rubbing to edges and bumping to spine-ends and corners. Page-edges toned. Spine is cracked. A neat penned inscription to front paste-down, dated 1942. Black and white frontispiece depicting the "Pacific Marine Biological Station of Canada, Departure Bay, B.C." intact. Includes a fold-out map, tipped in to rear of book, as well as numerous black and white diagrams and illustrations. Some pages are marked from use, but text is clear. "[This] series of scientific papers, now published, consists of nineteen reports, a much larger number than had been prepared for either of the two preceeding volumes of studies from the Marine Biological Stations of Canada... Few stations during so short a time of active operation, and under the conditions of marine research unavoidable in so vast a territory as Canada, can point to a record so creditable and to results so substantial as those of the Biological Stations of the Dominion.".
