Jean Louis Brachet (1789-1858) French professor of pathology and a member of L'Académie imperiale de médecine. His book Traite de l' Hysterie was an important early modern study on the subject. Rare/Collectible. Beautiful first edition, red leather-bound hardcover book, the spine has a small scratch otherwise nearly flawless binding, with completely clean and unmarked text inside. The dust jacket has little folds/lines (see pictures) otherwise good.

Near fine condition, unread, appears as new.

The book is in excellent condition for its age. It has the prior owners name written inside otherwise the text is clean. Burgundy colored cloth cover in very good condition as well. 1936 first edition, sixth impression, of the McGraw-Hill translation of this classical work by the gestalt psychologist Kurt Lewin. Translated by Fritz and Grace M. Heider.

Bound in full modern tan calf after period style with spine gilt in 6 compartments. Interior pages are generally very clean with occasional faint foxing. Robert Burton's psychiatric study "Anatomy of Melancholy" (first printed in London, 1621) is a learned work on various types of melancholia. The author, cites numerous authorities and includes much curious lore about customs, treatments, secrets of nature, psychology, witchcraft, dreams, sickness, demons, ghosts, and apparitions. Rare - collectible copy of Norbert Wiener's classic. This is the first edition 7th printing. Bright red cloth cover with black and white title block, but with some shelf wear on edges. Inside there is some browning and an imperfection on the title page - see pictures, but otherwise the text is clean and unmarked. Not an ex-library copy and without any prior owner inscriptions.
