Paris: Jean Jost, 1649. Hardcover. Very Good -. [4], 586, [30] p.; 24 cm. Signatures: [pi]2 A-3H4 (4to). 19th-century? half calf with five spine compartments between raised bands; marbled paper over boards. Gilt-tooled title in second compartment; gilt-tooled decoration at head and tail and on raised bands; blind-tooled decoration in remaining compartments. Title page in red and black. Printer's emblem on title page. Woodcut head piece above Ad Lectorem; several woodcut initials. Inscription on front fixed endpaper: "F.G. Rappe de Thisnes 1844." Faint stamp on title page: "Bibliotheca C. SS. R. Ilchester, MD." Stamp on title page verso: "Bibliotheca Mt. St. Alphonsus, Esopus, N.Y." Inscriptions at the foot of the Ad Lectorem page indicate that the book had belonged to Jacobi Garmar before F.G. Rappe. Very scarce; this edition not in WorldCat. In Very Good- Condition: rubbed; lacking some leather from one raised band; joints are starting; pages are slightly brown; old dampstain along lower edges of some leaves; otherwise, clean and tight.
