A lovely highly decorated engraved invitation to the Coronation of George & Mary, signed by the Duke of Norfolk, Earl Marshal, and inscribed "Madame Bricka" in ink, in the original envelope. Madame Helene Bricka (1847-1914), was tutor to Queen Mary when Princess Mary of Teck, instructing her in English, French and German. After Princess Mary married Prince George of Wales, Mme. Bricka was companion secretary to her mother Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck. Later, Madame Bricka taught Queen Mary's children history, reading & writing, French and German. The engraved invitation with elaborate Art Nouveau design, including winged female Britannia holding the royal Orb & Sceptre, flanked by heraldic devices. Printed on thick watermarked stock, 12 x 9 1/2", on 13 1/2 x 11 1/2". A few scattered fox spots. In the original envelope, signed at the lower left by the Earl Marshal and addressed in ink to Madame Bricka, 1 Bessborough Street, S. W. Envelope evenly toned, 13 1/4 x 11 1/4"
