In Near fine dust jacket with trace to wear along the edge edge of the spine and a tiny closed tear top egde front panel. Extensive collection of letters from Fitzgerald and to him from many of his famous contemporaries. Both sides of the exchanges are often presented and none of the contents of the 1963 volume of Fitzgerald's letters are included. The letters extend from his boyhood to the last days of his life (he died inlate December, 1940). Among the letters recipients/respondees are Gertrude Stein, Willa Cather, John O'Hara, Hemingway, Mencken, Eliot, Ring Lardner, Sherwood Anderson and, of course, his wife Zelda (some written during their difficult courtship during World War I and the heartbreaking ones during her prolonged and recurring breakdowns in the 1930s).
