About This Item

France: Bibliothèque de la Pléiade / NRF / Éditions Gallimard. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket. 1968. Hardcover. Volume III of the collection of letters by the prominent French novelist Marie-Henri Beyle (1783-1842), best known by his nom-de-plum "Stendhal" and presented in a handsome French language edition in the series by the Bibliothèque de Pléiade. The letters are divided into three groups: "Lettres de Stendhal 1835-1842", "Lettres a Stendhal 1835-1842" and "Lettres Retrouvées 1807-1841". Texts established and with annotations by H. Martineau and V. Del Litto. With index by correspondants, general index of names cited and bibliography by V. Del Litto. --- In pebbled green leather covers with gilt-stamped spine titling and gilt horizontal spine rules. Each volume with two sewn-in green satin ribbon bookmarks, text printed on very thin leaves, blue topstain, with front and rear wrapper panels and flaps in clear mylar, as issued. --- An excellent copy: bright, unmarked and tightly bound but creases to some page edges and faint age-toning to wrapper panels. (Scarce in USA.) ; 16mo (6 to 7 in. tall); xvii, 1125 pages .
