Countries by Waldman, Anne - 1980

A small collection of short poems by Anne Waldman, a primary poet of the later Beat Generation, the New York School & beyond. The poems are all observations from her travels, accompanied by linoleum block prints by her husband, Reed Bye, also a noted poet & educator. The prints are outline-maps of the countries visited, including England, Wales, The Netherlands, Germany, Nepal, etc. Out of a total edition of 1200 copies, 200 hardcover copies were numbered & signed by Waldman & Bye; & 1000 softcover copies in sewn bindings were issued, of which this is one. An exquisite production published in February 1980 "...under the auspices of an Iowa Arts Council Apprenticeship Grant" as noted in the colophon page. The relatively less rare but still desirable version of a significant Waldman collectible. In fine condition with only very mild rubbing to front, back covers & spine; a few tiny spots on covers; mild browning/sunning esp. at spine edge of front cover. Interior very fine.
