Architecture; FARMING; Sports; Hunting; Royalty; ENGLAND; B&W Illustrations; 10 x 14"; 960 pages; COUNTRY LIFE MAGAZINE for All INterested in Coutry Life and Country Pursuits. Featured coverage of country houses, architecture and gardening with manorial estates it's mainstay. Features many Fashion pictures [The frontispiece, which usually features a young woman from a landed British family, is very well known and is called popularly "Girls in Pearls"], along with numerous examples of period dress. Quite a few architectural photo plates of various structures, gardening, sports, hunting, gentleman farming, royalty, art, etc. Mostly photos. A heavy book about 1000 pages of text printed on slick paper. Also includes some how-to and fiction as well. Generally designed as a useful but informative publication. Founded 1897. Occasional faults but contents generally VG+. Bound in green cloth, apparently without covers but with frontis title pages, all edges gilt. Spine broken, water damage to lower margins of much of book. Front mater detached 6 leaves, index. Covers spotted. Damage to the text block shown rapidly decreases until after about p100 all leaves are VG. .
