Seneca Falls NY:: Cowing & Company , 1871. Heavy dark green cloth over paper wraps, with impressed gilt titles and blind-stamped ruled borders. 130 pages with index. An impressively-illustrated (in woodcut) catalog of all types of hand pumps, force pumps, hydraulic pumps, lift pumps, fire fighting equipment, garden equipment, and miscellaneous related manufactured items. The fire engines are of the handtub, or hand-drawn variety. There is also a "protection engine" for home/farm use, a green house engine and a couple of garden engines. Each of thiese is depicted with ornamental scrollwork and other refinements, and each carries a detailed description of the enhancements made to functional parts.
