The first edition of this continuation of the influential criminologists anthropometric studies of the prisoners at La Maison Centrale de Nîmes, one of the most sustained studies of early criminology, which remains a valuable trove of information regarding slang, sexual habits, and art of prisoners in the early 20th century. This volume focuses on the anthropometry of the head. The illustrations consist mostly of nicely executed portrait drawings of prisoners, sometimes accompanied by their handwriting, but also includes reproductions of some prison art. A sharp, fine example, mostly uncut, showing a slight touch of toning to margins of wraps.
