UK: David Potter, 2014. Soft cover. New/No Jacket. p/b 84 pages, condition is NEW. Cricket in Edinburgh and the surrounding district has been played for a long time, being particularly strong in the FP teams of the Edinburgh schools but also in places like Stenhousemuir, Fauldhouse, Freuchie and Kirkcaldy, a team sadly no longer with us. An Association was founded in 1933, but it was not until 1953 that a League was initiated. In this respect, the East were many decades behind the Western Union and the Scottish Counties, but the League and its accompanying Cup competitions, notably the Masterton Trophy, have always been fiercely contested. In recent years, changes have been convoluted and not always in the best interests of the sport, but here cricket historian David Potter attempts to give an account of cricket in the East of Scotland over the past decades. There is now a Championship and 9 Divisions, which mean that an awful lot of people are involved in cricket in the East of Scotland.
