Edinburgh: Archibald Constable & Co. Ltd., 1814. Volume II only. Pages clean and bright with very occasional light annotation, previous owner inscriptions on blank page after front endpaper, 3cm spot stain on foot of blank page before title page, the top right corner of page 597 has been ripped off but it doesn't affect the text, binding firm, some rubbing and scuffing to boards but overall neat.. Hard. Very Good. 8vo.

Edinburgh: Archibald Constable and Company; Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown, 1814 A good to very good copy, combining Vols I and II in one, in full leather binding with armorial bookplate of James D Marwick to the front pastedown. James Marwick was born in Kirkwall and was Town Clerk of Glasgow for 31 years, maintaining his Orkney links throughout. The Cronicles, according to John Graham Dalyell, who wrote the Preface, are taken from a number of manuscripts of different dates. He states that authorship was assigned to Robert Lindsay but without clear proof. The binding has been rebacked to provide a newer spine with raised bands and red title label. The contemporary panelled-style boards are in good condition with some scuffing and wear at edges and corners.
