New York: Harper & Brothers, 1957. Stated first edition, 1957, with personalized inscription signed by the author on the front free endpaper. Dark blue cloth with dustjacket. Good to very good with light shelfwear, good hinges, sound text block, light age-toning to endpapers, clean pages, bookplate on front pastedown. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and has lightly chipped edges, foxing to the rear cover and rear flap, little paper loss.. Inscribed by The Author. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Fully conscious that the people who came to this land were occupied with the physical tasks of the frontier, Mr. Wright makes no extravagant claims for their civilization, but with sympathy and even-handed justice surveys its accomplishments in trade, architecture, science, journalism.
