Minor rubbing to lkeather esp. at crown. U. of California Department of French stamp to front pastedown, remnant of card cat. pocket to ffep; another oval U. Cal stamp on copyright page and previous owner's name and location (Bryn Mawr, PA) in ink on first blank page. Owner was an academic at U. Cal. Circa 38 black and white illustrations interspersed throughout the text.
