About This Item

McClelland & Stewart. 19821 1st.. 275pp. Frontis 24x16. An excellent unmarked copy: Fine in Very Good d/j.. Hradcover Edition. Brock was one of the most respected and powerful career officers in the Royal Canadian Navy, rising to Rear Admiral on his retirement in 1964, These anecdotal memoirs trace the author's career in the Navy which began in 1940 when Brock sailed to England on loan to the Royal Navy and was appointed First Lieutenant of the trawler Berkshire before taking command of the trawler Kirkella. In April 1941 he moved to the corvette Ranunculus, and then took over Stonecrop, which joined 37EG on the Gibraltar run. This was followed by command of Bazely and fighting with 4EG in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. In 1944 he was given command of 6EGC, and a continuation of the Atlantic war, until he commanded the last eastbound convoy. After the war he commanded the Canadian naval forces sent to Korea. This book covers the period from 1939 to the end of the Korean War.
