Description:
London: Methuen & Co, 1960. Hardcover. Very Good. First Methuen edition, wrappered issue (preceded slightly by an acting edition). A small crease on the front wrap, a little soiling, a pleasing, very good copy in a custom cloth clamshell case with leather spine label. This is Pinter's own copy, unsigned, but apparently used as either a prompt copy or in revising the play for radio, with corrections (mostly deletions, some of them very substantive on nearly every page). The Nobel laureate's own copy of one of his first major works.

London: Methuen & Co. Ltd,, 1942. Octavo. Original green cloth, titles to spine in red. With dust jacket. Spine a little rolled, minor bump to lower corner, some spots to edges of text block. An excellent copy in the lightly rubbed jacket with a few nicks and short splits. First edition, first impression. Presentation copy inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "Aage Marcus from Olaf Stapledon, April 1946". Aage Marcus (1888-1985) was a Danish art historian and writer. The Stapledon collection at the University of Liverpool contains a copy of Marcus's Billedkunsten (Visual Art) inscribed to Stapledon and dated April 1946, suggesting that the two books were gifted concurrently. Stapledon presentation copies are extremely rare, and this is one of only two copies that we have ever seen in commerce.

Description:
London: Methuen & Co, 1965. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. First edition. Fine in fine, very lightly rubbed dustwrapper. In custom chemise and quarter morocco gilt and cloth slipcase. Inscribed by Pinter to Vivien Merchant, the lead (and only) actress in the play, who was also his wife: "June 1965 To Vivien. Thank you! David." Pinter was an actor as well, and here uses his stage name, David Baron. *The Homecoming* won the Tony Award for Best Play in 1967, and Merchant was nominated for Best Actress. As good an association as possible in what is probably the Nobel Prize-winning playwright's best-known and commercially most successful drama.

Description:
London: Methuen & Co., 1931. Over eighty years have passed since The Good Earth won the Pulitzer Prize, it has retained its popularity and become one of the great modern classics. "I can only write what I know, and I know nothing but China, having always lived there," wrote Pearl Buck. In The Good Earth she presents a graphic view of a China when the last emperor reigned and the vast political and social upheavals of the twentieth century were but distant rumblings for the ordinary people. This moving, classic story of the honest farmer Wang Lung and his selfless wife O-lan is must reading for those who want to fully appreciate the sweeping changes that have occurred in the lives of the Chinese people during this century.

Description:
London, UK: Methuen & Co, 1942. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. First edition, first impression. viii, 184pp. Blue cloth-covered boards; gilt titles on spine. 12mo. Sun-faded spine, with reader's crease. Lightly rubbed on all edges, rounded at corners and spine ends. Dusty top text block edge, remaining edges just starting to fox and tan. Endpapers tanned, starting to fox. Hinges stretched at endpapers. Pen markings on front free endpaper and rear pastedown, otherwise, internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Written during World War II, Stapledon projects two separate futures for humanity, depending not on the outcome of the war but on the failure or success of a future 'Tibetan Renaissance' to influence the temper and ideology of the militaristic Russian and Chinese empires that threaten it.
