1972. Paperback. Very Good. A catalog of the work of sculptor David Black for three 1972 exibitions: in the Ft. Wayne Art Institute, the Flint Institute of Arts and the University of Iowa Museum of Art. From the introduction, "The use of plastics as an art medium...has allowed sculptors such as David Black...to work with austerity and technical precision...a whole range of possibilities has opened up...These untouched works have a freedom to operate in autonomous zones. By being void of explanation through use, they have a vital, self sufficient existence." Stiff color pictorial paper wraps with photos of two of David Black's works, one on each wrap. Stapled binding. Stiff paper pages with photos of Mr. Black's works, sketches for one particular work, a photo of his studio and one of the artist himself. Also included is his bio information, museums that have his collections, prizes he's received and finally Black's own description of he work. "For me the process of making sculpture is always half metaphysical...I use machines. I use transparency, hoping to convey an intangible feeling of expansiveness." CONDITION: Slight edgewear, one very small thumb crease on front wrap and a few small creases at spine edge. Tip end of bottom spine corner is turned up slightly.
