The First UK printing published by Hutchinson in 1971. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition with only slight pushing at the spine tips. Some spotting and toning in places to the text block. The usual offsetting to the grey end papers. The pages remain clean. Free from erasures and inscriptions. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good+ condition. No fading of the red colouring to the spine. Some edge wear with rubbing at the spine ends and corners. A little creasing of the flaps. Two small closed tears with rubbing at the upper flap folds. The iconic wrapper design remains very striking in the removable Brodart archival protector. The book has been Signed (without dedication) and dated by FREDERICK FORSYTH to the title page. Accompanied by 11 original silver gelatin movie stills, produced to publicise the 1973 film. There are various agency stamps, editorial markings and/or captions to the rear of most photos. Photo size approx. 25.5cm x 20.5cm (one smaller, 23.8cm x 18cm). WITH the original Universal Studios 'press release' (approx. 20 pages) and the Studio's biographies of the actor edward Fox and the director Fred Zinneman. Synopsis

The Day of the Jackal (1971) is a thriller novel by English writer Frederick Forsyth, about a professional assassin who is contracted by the OAS French terrorist group of the early 1960s, to kill Charles de Gaulle, the President of France. The Day of the Jackal is a novel of the spy fiction genre, praised for its convincing portrayal of France in 1963, and its carefully thought-out plot.
