Mild binding edgewear and faint sunning, else internally near fine. Truly tight and quite attractive first edition of this collection of seven crime noir short stories by Cornell Woolrich -- Irish being one of his pseudonyms. "If the Dead Could Talk" (together with Woolrich's story "Silent as the Grave") was adopted into the 1954 French film "Obsession," and while this nice copy lacks dust jacket, it does bear a choice autograph addition: Tipped to the front flyleaf is a large, bold signature in teal blue ink of that film's star Michele Morgan on a heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., dated by her 25 December 1971. Fine. Laid in is the ideal bookmark: Morgan's original transmittal envelope, with her inkstamped name and Parisian address at upper left.
