About This Item

Toronto: Macmillan Canada, 1993. Deadly Silence recounts details of thirteen grisly Mafia murders in Canada. Individually these cases are fascinating and enlightening studies of life and death inside this most enduring of crime cultures. Taken as a whole, they trace the development of the Mafia in Canada. The killings in this book range from the horrific systematic torture of informer Alberto Agueci to the almost-respectful excution of Montreal boss Paolo Violi. Throughout the text, the authors highlight the close connections between Canadian, Italian, and American mob families, including the notorious Gotti and Gambino families of New York City. Antonio Nicaso is an internationally recognized organized crime specialist. His friendship with the late Italian judge Giovanni Falcone (who was murdered) , provided him access to information on the many links between the Canadian and Italian Mafias. The book offers thirteen informative chapters, two appenices - "Code of The Honoured Society" and "Chronology" beginning in 1876 to 1993. A date is entered (2014) which is when Peter Frumusa will be eligible for parole. He was convicted of murdering Richard and Annie Wilson. A glossary and Mafia Terminology is provided followed by an index. A section of photographs on heavier glossy stock is also present. They are previously unpublished photographs. Rear panel of book shows a damp stain to right corner, otherwise bright and clean. Price-intact dust jacket shows a triangular paper loss to front panel. A respectable copy.. ISBN: 0-7715-9017-2. First Edition, First Printing. Hard Cover. Very Good/Good. Murder Canada + Mafia Canada + Gambino Family + Mafia Culture + Alberto Agueci + Paolo Violi + Paul Volpe + Canadian Italian American Mob Families + Canadian Crime. Catalogs: True Crime.
