Long considered to be a lesser work, Death in the Afternoon is now seen by critics and collectors to be as important as most of Hemingway's novels. His musings on writing and bullfighting are supplemented by numerous black and white photographs of bulls and bullfighting. The book is in very good condition: clean and tight, with some dulling of black cloth. The dust jacket is, as usual, quite fragile: splitting at all folds; chipping at corners and spine extremities. Archival tape on verso now stabilizes pieces of dj spine--a more professional restoration might be preferred.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Fair.
