About This Item
Phoenix: Communist Party of Arizona, 1946. 1 page typed mimeographed page with crudely drawn image of Hooded Klan member with arm on Policeman's shoulder while poor African-America. Text asks people to prosecute the lynchers of Mr. and Mrs. George Dorsey and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Balcolm. It says U.S. Attorney-General calls for action against communists but not against the lynchers who often were friends of Theodore G. Bilbo, a Mississippi Senator who wrote on the importance of segretation while involved with many shady financial deals. A fascinating piece of propaganda which one would not expect in Phoenix just after the end of World War II. OCLC shows the only known copy in a library is a Yale in Special Collections.
