Publisher's blue boards with black lettering to the front board and spine and with the publisher's initials to the bottom right hand corner of the front board. Map end-papers. Faint offsetting to the end-papers, slightly pushed spine tips and a hint of spine fade overall a VG+ copy. In the RARE dust wrapper priced 7/6 net to the spine (as called for). The D/W is also in VG+ condition with a 1 cm closed tear at the head of the spine, a tiny chip to the top left hand corner of the spine and rubbing/minuscule loss/minor creasing at the base of the spine. A geographical note: looking at the map of the front of the book of "Eastrepps" it is clear to me that the fictional town is based upon Cromer on the North Norfolk Coast. Nearby villages include Northrepps and Southrepps but not "Eastrepps" (which is fictitious). A much nicer copy than normally seen. An early serial killer novel that author Vincent Starrett magnanimously cited as "one of the ten greatest detective novels ever written." A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone. Rare.
