Historical novel about the Walker Expedition up the St. Lawrence River in the 1700s. Exploration, Adventuure, Canadian history in the 18th Century. Black cloth binding w/gilt titles and decoration on spine, title and author name blind-stamped on front, in script. Clean, with scuffed lower edges, corners and spine ends; hinge rubbed. Tight & solid. There is a small stamp saying "20" on the lower edge of the text block. Former owner name on front endpaper. Internals are clean and clear, free from any markings, lightly toned. Endpapers with illustration of a gathering in winter outside a fort, in red duo-tones. 335 pages. 5.5 x 8.25 inches. Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1947.
