McHarg's (1920-2001) first, that set out a systematic approach to designing for communities that took the environment into consideration, working with the ecology of the area rather than forcing it to adapt to the built environment. McHarg was the founder of the department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. Signed by McHarg on the half-title page in blue ink, dated separately underneath "9-4-81" in black ink. McHarg's signature is somewhat rare. First Printing. viii, 197 pp. 4to. Dust jacket has light chips and small tears at edges, 3" tear at upper right corner of rear panel at head of spine. Yellow cloth boards with green embossed titling to spine. Previous owner's name and date of purchase written in blue ink at the upper left corner of the front pastedown, clean within.
