This is the first p/back edn,1979.] VG+.No owner inscrptn,printed price to rear cover inked but not removed.Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,wrap-around seascape pictorial colour artwork by Paul Wright,illustrated card covers with white+yellow lettering; with negligible shelf-wear,bumping or creasing - no nicks,tears or splits present.Reading creases to spine/backstrip,a faint, small oblique angle crease to top front+rear corners.Top edges inevitably dust-soiled and lightly toned but foxing/spotting free, fore- edges ubiquitously toned - as usual/normal - but to a lighter degree and with minimal,faint sporadic foxing/spotting; contents bright and clean notwithstanding page-edge toning,tight,solid and sound with no intentional dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners.Accidental (?) pages lower corner creases to consecutive pp97-100.UK,12mo p/back, 1st edn,1-276pp [paginated] includes 10 chapters,plus [unpaginated] half-title+title pages,a dedication, 2pp blanks and to the rear publisher's adverts for these authors (all 4 of O'Brian's first titles in this saga), Dudley Pope and Herman Wouk,and Fontana Order form to recto of that last advert.
