Bookplate of Henry J. Heinz. Lithographic pictorial front wrapper and 93 hand colored lithographic plates, most heightened in gum arabic. 1 vols. Folio. Rare Military Costume Series. Extensive grouping of plates of the uniforms of northern German states from this complex work of outstanding beauty. The hand-colored lithographic plates are striking, and the deatil provided on regional variation in uniform is outstanding.
Colas gives a detailed collation of the entire collection (385 plates in all). This volume includes extensive and complete suites of Hannover, Braunschweig, Mecklenburg, Oldenburg, Holstein, and the smaller principalities and free cities of Lippe, Waldeck, Lübeck, Bremen, and Hamburg.
