Paperback. Good. A 30 pp handwritten report, ca. 1909, for a sociology class, written by Bertha Botsford, probably while she was attending Indiana Normal School (which eventually became Indiana University of Pennsylvania). It is illustrated with over half a dozen postcards from Marion Center, a small town in Indiana County, Pennsylvania halfway between Indiana and Punxutawney off Rt. 119. Botsford (1889-1982) would have been around 20 when she wrote this, thus our estimate of the date as 1909. Well researched, with some pencil corrections by her teacher, mainly grammatical. Here's one, for example: 'Along this road mines were opened at various places, towns spr[u/a]ng up and a street car line was built.' -- Would you say towns sprung up, or towns sprang up? If you purchase this, you'll know what Bertha's sociology teacher regarded as correct usage. We will also throw in the class notes Botsford took for her education class, in a hardbound book.
