Paris/Washington: The Black Sun Press/Crosby Continental Editions, 1948. dark red leatherette with gilt title on spine and gilt devil's head on front cover. owner signature at top edge of front paste-down, usually obscured by dj flap. shallow edge-wear to top of dj and to bottom front fore-corner at fold-over of flap. one closed tear over title on front cover of dj. no other flaws. the dj is largely intact if well used.; translated by kay boyle. introduction by aldous huxley.; 253pp., b/w stills from the film interspersed.; on the cover of the dust jacket, at bottom: "crosby continental editions paris the black sun press washington". the title page has "black sun press 1948". on copyright page: "copyright assigned 1948 to caresse crosby".; an interesting book where a number of careers crossed paths.. First Edition Thus. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/Very Good Minus. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.

Je vais encourir bien des reproches. Mais qu'y puis-je ? Est-ce ma faute si j'eus douze ans quelques mois avant la declaration de la guerre ? Sans doute, les troubles qui me vinrent de cette periode extraordinaire furent d'une sorte qu'on n'eprouve jamais a cet age ; mais comme il n'existe rien d'assez fort pour nous vieillir malgre les apparences, c'est en enfant que je devais me conduire dans une aventure ou deja un homme eut eprouve de l'embarras.
