NY: Houghton Mifflin, 1914. First Edition. Hardcover. Near Fine/No dustwrapper. First thus, prev. editions with Scribner's and Harper & Bros. This has illustrations from Elizabeth Shippen Green, all 8 of which are intact. Yellow boards have some slight fading at the spine. Prev. owner's bookplate on front pastedown. Some spotting throughout (but nothing major), and text is unmarked. A beautiful copy! All of our first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted. Dustwrappers are protected with clear archival wraps and we pack each book like it's a Tiffany egg.

No dust jacket. Cover has moderate shelfwear, mild soiling, a few small stains, spine is quite rubbed. Mild foxing inside cover. Name and date written on front flyeaf. Frontispiece tissue intact, some foxing on tissue and title page. A few small stains on pages 22 and 23, otherwise text is clean and unmarked. Mild foxing on edges of papers. Binding is tight. Hinges are perfect. Very nice copy. Arthur S. Hardy wrote books on mathematics, novels and poetry. He was a co-editor of Cosmopolitan magazine. Scarce.
