Leipzig., 1900-14. Illustrated by Original author and contributor pencil drawings, journal articles, photographs, clippings, correspondence. Manuscript edition. 2 volumes. Printed green cloth boards restored by KTB of Old Working Books & Bindery with three extended acid free cloth fore-edges with portion of original decorative flap in each volume. Volume II spine extended to house extra information. 4to. pp. 217 leaves. Very Good/No jacket, as issued. Several published articles and clippings with original pencil and some color drawings and photographs mounted on plate paper. Some of the drawings were from a museum artist in Vienna, most are Winter's. Correspondence includes handwritten letters from George Francis Hill 1931-1936 to Winter on British Museum Stationery, Postdirektor a. D. Eklinger Schloss Reichelsdorf bei Nurnberg 1914, Williams and Norgate Booksellers and Publishers Oxford (unsigned note with photographs). The mounted plate papers with multiple photographs and drawings on each total 210 pieces with an additional 2 small drawings and 4 loose items (217 pieces). This includes 27 items in a supplementary folder entitled representations of Combs incidental to other symbols or designs; 58 items in first volume; 131 items in second volume. The binding is the same as the published piece with 84 plates by Verlag Von H. A. Ludwig Degener, Leipzig (1906-7). There is much unpublished material collected in the manuscript totaling 11.25 pounds of information. He continued work beyond publication due to the dates on the correspondence and additional work on monuments, coins and graves are included in the supplementary folder..
