Berytus, 1935., 1935.. Good. - Small quarto [11-1/4 inches high by 8-1/2 inches wide], softcover bound in printed gray wraps. The covers are detached & are chipped, darkened & creased around the edges with a tear to the top edge of the rear wrap. Pages 25-33. Illustrated with a black-and-white folding plate [architectural plan]. The page corners are bumped & their edges are darkened with some light creasing & with occasional staining. There is a horizontal crease to the wraps & to each leaf where the pamphlet has been folded. Good working copy.

Inscribed by the author on the front wrap to archaeologist Clark Hopkins.

Armin von Gerkan [1885-1969] was a Baltic German classical archaeologist and a member of a Baltic aristocratic family. He was an expert in archaeoloical building research and a seminal figure in ancient architectural history. The present text is a study of the city wall of Palmyra, Syria.
